Don't know if they'll find  QB, but God knows they need one. There's no one there that they can win with now.

Marcus Mariota is the real answer. Fans thinks he not the answer. If the Jets pass on him we will regret this for years to come. Take my word Mariota is the answer. He can sit a year and learn from the system. Mariota has problems, but he also has had few off-field issues (just a speeding ticket in November) and there are no concerns about his leadership ability. He mastered his college offense (never mind what that offense asked him to do) and he meets the size, arm strength and athleticism edges. All of that should ease teams' fears about his capability to last in the pros. He combines marvelous athletic capability and running skill with plus arm strength. Last season his deep ball improved greatly. His location outside the hashes downfield still needs plenty improvement, but Mariota has the skill set to become better in that area.

Out of curiosity I know both teams don't get along but what do you think the Pats would want in return for Jimmy Garoppolo?

With Cardale Jones, Hackenburg and Cook coming out next year, I feel like trading back would be our best option.  If the browns trade were to happen, and I hope it does, I wouldn't take their 19 overall.  I would take their number 1 next year and a 2 or 3 this year.  IMO, the browns are going to have a rough year so I think they will be picking high next year, leaving us the option of either drafting our guy at QB outright, or having significantly better trade value to move up for him.  Then this year at 12 we could address our OL at a good value, with either Collins or Sherff if he somehow drops. Especially because we are going to have a big hole to fill with D'Brick likely being released. then using our 4 picks in the next 3 rounds to find contributors at pass rusher, WR, RB and maybe one of the remaining QB's.  I want to give Geno another year anyway, to see if he continues to trend upwards, and to see if he can flourish with what I think is a more talented offense what with adding Marshal, Carpenter, Gailey, and whoever we add in the draft.  If after this year Geno show little or no improvement, then we get rid of him and we will have the ability to go get our guy next year and not mortgage our future.  giving up on a guy we all knew needed some work after 2 years for a guy(mariota) we all know will need some work, after only 2 years in a deteriorating organization seems silly to me.  and to clarify, I don't think our organization is deteriorating any longer. If Winston and Mariota both came out when Luck and RGIII came out, they wouldn't have been in top ten consideration, maybe not even in 1st round consideration.  My point being prospects like them come along every year, and I said prospects not players, the difference being that they could turn out to be good players but they are both far from sure things and we don't know how they will turn out in the pro's.  That being said if we were to stay put at 6 and get mariota or Winston as guys who will compete to start and are not just given the spot, then I would be fine with that too. Just no trading up for them, and certainly don't trade for Rivers. He's a good QB and all, but that is a move that could prevent us from signing and resigning young talent all for the small chance that he clicks in this offense and we have a team that could possibly make a late playoff run for the next 3-6 years....possibly.  I would much rather build a team for sustained success.

If Cleveland wants a QB they're not trading up to #6

@Nolan Meyer

The number one next year is worth a 2nd. You take both their #1s this year, and their #1 next year.

That is just fair trade value to move up from 12 to 6.

They can't include the fact that they think they'll have a really high pick next year in the deal

@Pat d  As a college prospect RGIII was way better.  As a pro, who knows.  if you recall, not only did he light up the combine showing off his elite athleticism, but he was also touted as an extremely talented passer.  but that brings me to my point that the QB position coming out of the draft is like a box of chocolates...unless the guy is on Luck or RGIII status coming out of college, you don't trade away your future.  As far as Mariota and Winston go as prospects, they are not even close.  They could turn out to be super stars, but its much more likely they do not.  if one of them falls, then fine.

I don't know how much better RGIII is than Winston or Mariota but Luck is in a class way above them.

I'm really sad that I missed out on an opportunity to trash geno on this thread. I guess there's always the next one.

Why does Shane Ray not get talked about more on here again?

I just watched him abuse DJ Humphries.

Thought of the day - People love speed, and Beasely does a have nice, if not overly applauded spin move, but I think too many are allowing that glitz to blind them about his severe lack of power moves.

Charlie Casserly is mocking Ray to the Jets, fwiw.

@marc55

If I remember right, Ray did nothing for most of that game but had a couple sascks including a strip sack that was returned for a TD in the middle of the third quarter...

There is no way Beasley is BPA at #6

marc55

Yup, two huge plays against top competition, with the strip sack happening after he came back into the game after getting nicked up.

If Winston, Marriotta, Williams, Fowler, Cooper, are all gone, by the time we pick at #6, Beasley could very well be the BPA!

@marc55 that's because DJ Humphries was one of the worst tackles in CFB...idk why they project him as a 1st round pick. Trust me, I watched him for 3 years cause I'm a UF fan

Yes, they did it in 2008 and 2009 and then again in 2012 (although Slauson started all 16 in 2012 but split reps (2:1) with Vlad for the last 15 games.)

@Bent forgot about them putting vlad in like that...looks like in 2010 woody was hurt for 3 games and in 2011 mangold was hurt for 2

We should NOT mortgage the farm for Winston, or Mariota.

Good thing trading up wouldn't require mortgaging the team...

@a57se @kniff

I don't care if woody has to mortgage his mansion. I want a big QB that remains calm, and can throw guys open.

Looking at this comment I initially thought bent was trolling Obama.

BS, Duke Johnson should be your 3rd round target. Round 2 where we pick is just bad value. Especially when you can get similar production from a guy u take a few rounds later.

Is there a big dropoff in WR from rd 1>>2?

Marvel

Depends on what you mean .

I'd say in terms of Elite prospects yes.

Marvel

Yea , all the WRs with #1 WR capability will be gone by round 2.

I like Agholor but even he seems like a #2 at best. Strong Also. The rest seem like they will be good depth.

@Marvel

There's a definite drop-off in terms of first round talent from round one to round two.
