11:59AM: According to Steve Zipay, Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi was seen limping off the ice and favoring his left leg at the Rangers informal practice.

Andrew Gross says that Girardi was favoring his right leg and went limping off after he blocked a shot.

Mannion has talent and ability and potential.  Enough to intrigue you.

The problem is, his flaw (inability to handle pressure) is a fatal one, and he's not likely to ever be able to overcome it.  A flaw so fatal and glaring that you should ignore that aforementioned talent and potential because, ultimately, it won't matter and he'll always be more bad than good.

His realistic ceiling is "Bad NFL QB that people still believe in because they're not paying close enough attention", like Sanchez or Glennon or Carr, in that he'll put up some decent games and maybe even solid stats when you protect him exceedingly well and try to build a super-team that he's asked to manage, but  overally he'll lose way more games than he wins because if the OL isn't 100% airtight, he's gonna fail to convert that 3rd down that you need (or, worse, he'll throw a pick).

@bradysucks

We both agree that there's something there worth working with and developing.

The problem is, I understand his flaws better than you do, which is why you're willing to spend a laterounder on him and I'm maintaining that he's only worth a UDFA.

He's a big, tall, QB.  That's worth a look and a roster spot.

He's also an abjectly horrible QB.  That's not worth a draft pick.  Hence, UDFA.

@kniff @tsjc68 @bradysucks

He played all 4 years in college and only one of those years was any good. And it wasn't his most recent one. Maybe, maybe if he had sucked years 1-3 and then had that junior season in his senior season, you could make the argument that he put it together. But, that's not how it happened. He sucked most of the time, and regressed.

I'd rather give Shane Carden a chance than Mannion.

Agreed, and I'm pretty sure that neither you nor I are actually fans of Carden's game, nor do either you or I think he's likely to be anything other than a backup.

That's how bad Mannion is.

So bad that two guys who tend not to see eye-to-eye on all that much would both rather spend that roster spot and that development time on a guy who probably is nothing other than a serviceable backup at best, like Shane Carden.

@junnit

Curtis Conway disagrees....Conway, a former NFL WR and 1st round draft pick, says Mannion's a great QB prospect later in the draft

Mannion regressed? Yes....he lost Brandin Cooks and the talent around him wasn't nearly as good....Most QB's regress after they lose their #1 WR if there isn't any other good talent around them...

What matters to me is can the guy make ALL the NFL throws in a pro offense? Yes.......The End

Late Round Pick would be fine by me ....I got no issues with a 6 foot 6 inch pocket passer who ran a pro offense in college

@tsjc68

You're like the guy who goes to the dump with a metal detector searching for treasure....

yup....

By the way, former NFL WR Curtis Conway was talking up Sean Mannion on NFL Network earlier this week.....I immediately thought of you tsjc68...

Apparently some former NFL people disagree with you that Mannion has zero talent and ability/potential and isn't even worthy of being drafted...

Go figure.....I guess they are all SSSSSS-tupid for thinking a 6 foot 6 inch QB who was a multi year starter and ran a pro offense in college has no future....either that or you're just wrong

bradysucks
bradysucks

This is why I proposed using a late round pick on him...

My issue with your criticism is when you say he shouldn't even be drafted.

I never claimed he was a good QB or even a top draft prospect. I only claimed there is something to work with and develop. Curtis Conway basically said the same thing

If Scherff goes to the Giants, I will puke.

@tsjc68 @kniff If we get Collins,  I will start to feel better.

Still erks me that the Giants scored Geoff Schwartz last year too.

@kniff @tsjc68

Me too, but not signing Schwartz already seems like a blessing in disguise.  Dude was always hurt and got hurt again.  Who knows if he'll ever actually help them.

What is your actual perception of the Jets getting more than one listed above in your dream board...umm...draft board?

I gather it's for Rd 1 #6 of course.

Beasley was a former running back. His speed off the edge is outer worldly!

They'd both be good picks though. It was close. Scherff is a player I really like

Rex still talking about Jace Amaro -- me thinks thou doth protest too much.

especially considering Jace never mentioned Rex by name or as Basset pointed out in the podcast; was only talking about Bowles.

So, if Erin Andrews' boyfriend was arrested with cocaine and ecstasy on him, is it safe to assume that she partakes?

Jules: Mmm, this is a tasty burger! Vincent, you ever had a Big Kahuna Burger?

(Vincent shakes his head)

Want a bite? They're real tasty.

Vincent: Ain't hungry.

Jules: Well, if you like burgers, give them a try sometime. Me, I can't usually get 'em because my girlfriend's a vegetarian, which, pretty much makes me a vegetarian, but, I do love the taste of a good burger.

Rex's reactions to Amaro's comment pretty much tell the story. Amaro touched a nerve.

@Brendan  Lets hope Gaily draws up something nice for Amaro in the Bills game.

Channing crowder 2.0. Rex looks petty arguing this. His insecurities are showing.

I had two female dogs: a Neapolitan mastiff and a bloodhound. My mastiff would steal my bloodhounds treat and my bloodhound would flip. She'd spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how to fight my mastiff. Wouldn't let it go. I would have to take her out for a 3 mile run to get her mind off of it. So yeah, Rex is a btch.

Good article Levi but Amaro messed up ,really  !!

He should've NOT have said Rexy did not hold the Jets accountable Last season.

He should've have said Rexy NEVER held his players accountable !!!

That is pretty cheap.

Wisniewski is better than Carpenter.  Even though he is a center I think he could have played guard for us.

@harold He's also coming off an injury so teams aren't high on him.

I also vaguely remember some rumors about him bitching/being a malcontent/being a clubhouse lawyer, so take that for what it's worth.
