Note: The Rangers Need Their Top Players To Score

Last night on MSG, Joe Micheletti was asked what went wrong with the Rangers last night.

He pointed to the fact that the Rangers had a hard time getting the puck deep and establishing their forecheck, but overall, the Rangers big players are not scoring.

Micheletti said, “plain and simple, they need to start scoring some goals. Their big players need to start finishing. The players that you expect to score aren’t scoring.”

Ryan Callahan said on MSG that he didn’t think the Rangers spent enough time in the Winnipeg zone.

In the Daily News, Brad Richards said “we’ve got to score.”

Rick Nash had six shots on goal last night, two in the first and four in the second, had three shots blocked and missed the net once.

Marian Gaborik had four shots on goal, two in the first and two in the second, and one shot that missed the net. Gaborik was also stopped/lost control of the puck on a penalty shot.

Brad Richards had two second period shots and two that missed the net.

Nash hasn’t scored in three games, Gaborik has one goal in 13 games and Richards hasn’t scored in two games.

Derek Stepan and Ryan Callahan are the only Rangers to score goals in the past two games.
