Please no more Jets.

A couple of Pats, Browns, Dolphins, Eagles and Colts players would be nice.

Stu Woo @stuwoo

Jets Pro Bowl defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson suspended four games for substance abuse, according to a team spokesman

Kristian Dyer @KristianRDyer

Sheldon on four-game suspension: "“I apologize for letting down my family, teammates, this organization and the fans." #Jets

Sheldon continued: " However, words aren't enough. This is something that can only be addressed by how I handle myself from this point on."

Sheldon continued (3/4): "I don't want this to take away from what the team is trying to accomplish. While I won't be there at the start..."

Sheldon (4/4): "...of the regular season, I will do whatever I can to support my teammates until I'm able to return to the field.” #Jets

Ok Bent.  I'm going to see the new Terminator tonight.  This got me thinking: John Connor sent back Kyle to protect his mother from the original T800 that the machines sent back to kill Sarah before John was conceived.  While in the past, Kyle impregnates Sarah with John.  So, how did John exist to send back Kyle if Kyle had to be sent back to father John?

roadyhorns

To confuse me further, Kyle dies at the end of T1, so how did he exist in the future to be sent back by John (who wouldn't exist if Kyle wasn't there to be sent back)?

@roadyhorns

That question is going to be answered in the next Terminator film.

@roadyhorns they explained all of that in the terminator tv show which shouldve never been cancelled as something called the String Theory

@Bent And, I sht you not people, it took a pitcher doubling himself into scoring position to happen.

So, Monta Ellis picked Indy over Sacramento even though the Kings offered $4.3m more.

It's going to be funny when that cap clearing trade leads to them not actually having anyone worth signing wanting to use up their cap room.

@tsjc68 Well, when your options are prickish cheapskate Larry Bird or ....whatever the fck is in Sactown, "prickish cheapskate" is a runaway winner.

Boogie for Porzingis and Calderon.

It sounds horrible for them, but I think Divac and Karl can talk themselves into this.

@tsjc68 It's just...baffling. You can literally hand these people the words of the flag's creator and they just go "well that's not MY meaning for it."

Bobby Jindal did a twitter #AskBobby thing that blew up (exactly like you think it did).

My favorite snarky question that the Twitterati asked him:

"Why are you not a scientist when it comes to global warming but are a doctor when it comes to women's reproductive rights?"

Brendan
Brendan

@tsjc68 Yeah, the hypocrisy in the "government should stay out of marriage, but not out of the uterus!" logic that's used by some is staggering.

If the Koch brothers weren't in the petroleum business and the biggest financial backers to GOP candidates,  these politician/jokers would be more accepting and honest about the science.

@Brendan

Did you see the story about the Walmart which refused to make a confederate flag cake but did make an ISIS flag one?

Brendan
Brendan

@juunit Yes, and every dope who wants to save that flag has used it as an example of LIBRUHL HYPOCRISY or whatever.

No, guys, that's just a random person who was dumb.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@juunit @Brendan

That's because the people who work in the Walmart bakery didn't know what the ISIS flag was.  Because they don't watch the news.

Bklyn Dude
Bklyn Dude

@tsjc68 @Bklyn Dude @Brendan @OriginalNick

That's probably true to some degree.

But anybody on the GOP side running for President needs the financial backing of the Koch brothers and therefore needs to support everything they do.

@tsjc68 @juunit @Brendan

Yeah, it's clearly not Walmart's corporate policy or anything.

But I still thought it was pretty hilarious.

Wait, what did the creator of the confederate navy flag say? This uproar is so weird to me. Should we also whitewash ancient indian use of swaztikas? Or pre wwii japanese use of swaztikas just because some (admittedly villainous) a hole used it on his flag? This backlash is getting so ridiculous apple even took down games that have historical use of the confederate navy flag in a civil war game. People need to stop being so reactionary imo

THAT is ridiculous, yes.

All the other "Let's never fly the flag publicly again" suggestions are good ones, though.  That flag never needs to fly anywhere, ever.

I dunno. I think the flag's history is a bit more complicated than it's being made out to be. At the worst, you can accuse casual flag supporters of supporting slavery which is irrelevant due to the abolition of slavery. While confederates were almost certainly racist, they didn't go to war because they didn't like blacks, they went to war to protect states rights and the economic institution of slavery. For the record i don't have a problem w taking the flags down. I have a problem with a couple of people getting all frothed up about about the symbolism they're imposing on an object, esp in reaction to a tragedy. I think these decisions should be made w calm, reasonable minds

@Guy incognito

I dunno. I think the flag's history is a bit more complicated than it's being made out to be.

No, it's not.  It is a flag of white supremacy.  Period.  Full stop.

At the worst, you can accuse casual flag supporters of supporting slavery which is irrelevant due to the abolition of slavery.

But Jim Crow and the New Jim Crow and economic segregation and racism against people of color haven't been abolished, and the flag stands for all that too, because the flag is a flag of white supremacy and racism.

While confederates were almost certainly racist, they didn't go to war because they didn't like blacks, they went to war to protect states rights

No, they went to war AGAINST states rights, because they were upset that northern states were passing laws against the federal Fugitive slave act.  The only states rights they wanted to protect for themselves was the right to own black people, who they considered to be beneath white people

and the economic institution of slavery.

Which is the institution of owning black people, because they were beneath white people.

I have a problem with a couple of people getting all frothed up about about the symbolism they're imposing on an object,

We're humans.  We impose great meaning on symbols.  Always have, always will.  In fact, you can argue that symbolism is what makes us human.

I think these decisions should be made w calm, reasonable minds

We've been calmly, reasonably pointing out for decades that the flag is racist and needs to stop being revered.  People only pay attention to those points during moments of tragedy and turmoil, when it's harder to ignore those complaints.
