Copeland was one of the few guys who actually generated some buzz from NFL scouts during the veteran's combine.Great size, still just 24, has experience playing on the edge, has nice read-and-diagnose skills, probably not fast enough to be a LEO but seems like a nice developmental piece to maybe turn into a decent SAM. Could even be moved inside to an ILB role.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSopzilhFgk tsjc68 5pts Finally, the Giants were seen talking to linebacker Brandon Copeland. The 23-yearold, 6-foot-3, 246-pound linebacker posted and impressive 4.52 second 40-yard dash, and reportedly looked very impressive in his positional drills. That represents a marked improvement over his college pro day numbers, where he recorded a 4.72 second 40-yard dash. Though it should be noted he weighed in at 260 pounds at his college pro day.Copeland was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent out out of Pennsylvania (not Penn State) following the 2013 draft. He was also on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad before playing for the Orlando Predators Arena League Football team in 2014Coming out of college, Copeland was tagged as a potential DE/OLB, who could have the bulk to rush the passer as a defensive end, and the athleticism to play linebacker as well. At his new weight, and apparently improved athleticism, it is certainly possible that Copeland could play linebacker in the Giants 4-3 defense, though they may also look to him as a potential stand-up rusher, a la O'Brien Schofield last year.Copeland reportedly has offers from four teams, though it we have yet to hear if the Giants are one of those teams.http://www.bigblueview.com/2015/3/23/8280431/2015-veteran-combine-ny-giants-brandon-copeland-darel-scott-nate-collins tsjc68 5pts He was also a team captain at UPenn where he attended the prestigious Wharton School of Business, served with a defibrillator. https://twitter.com/adbrandt/status/581258857684602880 Brendan 5pts @tsjc68 ...god damn. Count me in. tsjc68 5pts @Brendan @tsjc68 A few 2015 Combine comps, for reference sake:Edge:Brandon Copeland: 6'3" 246, 4.52Vic Beasley: 6'3" 246, 4.53Shane Ray: 6'3" 245, 4.64Eli Harold: 6'3" 247, 4.60Nate Orchard: 6'3" 250, 4.80Zack Hodges: 6'2" 250, 4.68ILB:Brandon Copeland: 6'3" 246, 4.52Eric Kendricks: 6'0" 232, 4.61Stephone Anthony: 6'3" 243, 4.56Taiwan Jones: 6'3" 245, 4.95Bernardrick McKinney: 6'4" 246, 4.66That's really an outstanding time. If shaving off those 15 pounds from his playing weight has given him better quickness, he's an intriguing prospect to bring to camp. Brendan 5pts @tsjc68 Give me a guy like this for STs and potentially defense any day. At least get him into camp and see if you've caught lightning in a bottle. tsjc68 5pts @Brendan @tsjc68 Lining up at ILB for the Ravens in 2013 preseason:http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000227939/Copeland-s-one-handed-interception Corey Edmonds 5pts Adding depth to the linebacker core, great secondary support, and a fierce D- Line will make this team Dangerous.. Todd Bowles said he was going to change the culture of this organization.. And I'm Lovin it!!!! Coples is still a great Edge Rusher, He closed lined The hell out of some players last season.. This guy Copeland looks like a great depth signing... Picking the best player available at six is a plus. We could go offense or defense.. Cooper or Beasley.. We don't know but I'm pretty sure they won't disappoint us at the draft... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_g1Yy7LHT5U jetsjerk 5pts I love the way they're forming this team. The AFC East will be the best games ever this year. Can't wait to see what the draft brings...Go J-E-T-S! Brendan 5pts @jetsjerk It'll be like last year's NFC South, only the exact opposite.
