Read: The Different Ways The 48 Game Schedule Could Break Down

In the NY Times, Jeff Klein writes about the different combinations that the NHL could use to devise a 48 game schedule.

The schedule is going to be comprised of only conference games and could see the Rangers play the Atlantic Division teams SEVEN times each and the ten other Eastern Conference teams twice.

Another way the schedule could break down is for the Rangers to play eight teams THREE times each  and the other six teams FOUR teams.

it might be a marginal upgrade but marginal upgrades don't make you much better.  the OL needs to get a lot better.  i'm hoping aboushi steps it up and becomes a roadgrader.    meh we'll see.

Does Carpenter commit more or less penelties than Willie?  If it is less, then we have upgraded.  Because every penelty that Willie commited killed a drive.

@jsadolph he had 8 penalties last year and 4 the year before that. colon had 12 last year and 11 the year before that. also the fact that carpenter is 6 years younger than colon is encouraging

@greggreen @jsadolph

That is an upgrade in my book.  I think i have heard Carpenter has graded out slightly higher than Willie and commits less penelties and is younger.  Now if we can get the QB to get rid on the ball a half second sooner, we will be set.

I think it just makes sense to move abushi to RG. carpenter is supposed to excel at pass pro and with brick/carpenter and mangold you can roll blocking support to the right side of the line where abushi and bruno are More run blockers than Pass blockers

I remember the year when Carpenter was drafted.  It was considered a big time reach by the Hawks in the 1st round.

@jimmyc Too early.  The coaching staff is new - so everything will be different even if the players are the same.

Kyle Tompkins

The Jets won 11 games with Sanchez at QB, if Jets get Revis theyll have a better defense than that team

Plus Fitz is a better QB than Sanchez with better weapons around him

McGeorge

@jimmyc You aren't excited?  i am.

As bad as Fitz is, he's a lot better than Geno.  Geno is really bad.

Brandon Marshall is an improvement over whatever the jets had as their #1 and that includes Harvin, who was only good for sweeps.

Are the Jets competitive now?

No.

But they will be watchable, unlike last year.

That in of itself is a big plus for me.

I get to watch 16 watchable games instead of 16 crap games.

@Kyle Tompkins i know this is old but i think as far as weapons

Edwards/holmes/cothery>>>>>>Marshal /Decker/Kerley

and

brick/saluson/mangold/moore/woody>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Brick/carpenter/mangold/Abushi/bruno

Fitz might be better than 2010 sanchez but the WR and Oline are a downgrade. the Oline by alot, youre going from best in football to league average

@McGeorge @jimmyc my expectations for fitz arent crazy just give me a over 60 % completion and a positive Td/INT ratio. that right there would be the best Qb play from the jets in 4 years easy

@Kyle Tompkins  sorry Kyle, Sanchez is better any day of the week. FOUR playoff road wins, beating Manning and Brady back to back, OUTPLAYING THEM ! His last two years did you happen to notice who his receivers were? and how they were NEVER OPEN, thus he tried to force things and got picked etc... Eli did the same thing this year, admittedly he tried to force things, and got a free pass. If shottie gives the ball to Greene at the two in Pitt we're in the Super Bowl...BTW the defense blew that game...good luck Mark...

@McGeorge @jimmyc  Fitzhoodoo tends to throw picks at inopportune times but is better than Smith. Maybe Geno will do better in the offense that he had junior year in college, the spread, when he threw for 49 td's and only 6 picks. I'll take Marshall, Decker, Kerley, Amaro, Ivory, Powell, and maybe Osuwu against anybody, but, and a big but, the right side of the off. line is WEAK....

As Harvin is leaving, who is our guess for KR/PR duties next year?

Spiller if he signs?

Am I the only one that thinks we should go after idzik... in the middle of the night... with baseball bats.

McGeorge

@Nolan Meyer Don't forget to go afdter Woody when you are done.

You can't Blame Idzik for not being competent.  Idzik  probably honestly thought he knew what he was doing.

Look at it this way - if you offered me the job as GM of a team, for 2 million a year guaranteed for 2 years, I would take it.  I have some ideas on not over paying, and the true value of draft picks, and the moneyball aspects of the game.  Plus I'd want a knowledgeable cap guy, negotiator,  and contract specialist.  I'd suck in front of the press so I'd need a "coach".

This part of the game I could handle.

I wouldn't know the first thing about talent evaluation and would have to rely on my staff.  If they drafted poorly I'd be vilified, and rightly so, since I'm responsible.

If I was a fan I'd be mad at me ... and at Woody for hiring an unqualified person.

Make our run game unstoppable with a lockdown defense ala 2010

@samb With all this dough still out there any FA's dropping like flies, why not!

fatrex

@dabronx @samb I don't want Murray but everyone on here keeps saying how we have virtually unlimited funds and yet we're signing trash bin guys and watching our rivals make huge moves. You have to think Woody Johnson is behind some of this.

Say you'd have to pay him 8 per

@samb Not advocating signing him.  And especially if that's the price.  Pass.

@samb A. Running backs don't help run games

@fatrex @dabronx @samb You cant just spend spend spend. Who spends a ton in free agency and wins? Success is built through smart signings and mostly good draft picks. Learn your crap before you come on here and sound stupid.
