Read: Issues With Having A Condensed Schedule

At ESPN Insider, Craig Custance writes about how the NHL could have a condensed schedule if they strike a deal for a new CBA and how they would have to be careful with how it is configured.

The NBA played a 66 game schedule last season that started on Christmas Day. Compared to this season, the Knicks will have played 27 games by Christmas Day.

Custance spoke with someone in the NBA who said that in retrospect the 66 game season was a mistake due to the amount of injuries that were suffered.

The NHL played a 48 game schedule starting on January 20, 1995 after the first half of the season was wiped out.

Pierre LeBrun writes at ESPN.com that the NHL is willing to use all of June to fit in a reduced schedule.

LeBrun adds that the league will try and cram as many games as they can into a reduced schedule, but not have the type of schedule that the NBA did.
