Read: A Season Needs To Start By January 10

Bruce Garrioch tweets “Doug MacLean suggests if they can get a deal by Friday a 56-game
season starting on Dec. 20th.”

This section looks at all the talk of a shortened season.

Adam Rotter: I expect we will hear a similar date from the owners following the Board of Governors meeting today. With the progress that seemed to be made last night putting a firm date on things should end the potential for dragging things out to try and win one last point.

Wrex, good bye, good luck, and, good riddance. You have never accepted responsibility for your ineptitude. Three OC's, two GM's, two quarterbacks ruined, poor game management, lack of situational awareness, inability to coach people up (except defensive lineman) etc., etc., etc. All have sacrificed at the altar of Wrex's ego. Wrex, you are delusional, and, an incompetent Head Coach. Wrex, I give you credit for being a good Defensive Coordinator. You will never be great until you learn from your mistakes and realize that personality and charm only gets you so far. Those traits alone will not get you to the Super Bowl.

Keep Rex, Fire Idzik! New campaign begins!

Rex is back to his old regime a la braggadoccio.

He's hoping some other owner (A Woody type) will buy that line.

Too many factors involved in winning a Lombardi.

Luck included.

I want that sweatshirt! Also keep Rex 2 more years and get him a solid QB. Geno has to go

Aww, isn't it special this time of year when all the self-loathing Jets fans come out and the people who like other teams come around to kick the team when they are down.  So mature.

Rex, at worst, will get back on his feet as a defensive coordinator (asst. head coach).

Meanwhile, back at the crazy farm... the Jets are further back from being competitive now that owner is revamping (too late) the head of Jets' football operations.

Very sad sports christmas...

God I love this man... and I hate our GM... we're cursed without a quarterback.

Hey I want him gone but if he had a QB he probably would've won one already. For those calling this delirious or Rex a clown, I don't believe you are looking at him clearly. Given the right team there are a lot of coaches that could win a SB.

His loud personality often gets in the way of how great of a coach he really is and people have no idea.

Give this man a competent quarterback with an offense that can move the ball and two decent cornerbacks and Rex Ryan will give you a competitive playoff team every single season.

@Pete 57 If we had a competent OC that year we played vs Pittsburgh we would have been playing in the SB. He took a rookie QB to the playoff twice but the team failed to replenish the old players with new ones. It sucks for him to go but we need to clean house and bring in a different mentality.

But most coaches could make the playoffs with a good QB. Look at every team in the playoffs. They have a good QB.

No he wont. He's had 6 years to build a winner..sure the d is good but they always come up short in pressure situations. Plus he has no clue on offense. Rex is a prime example of someone who's better suited in a coordinator role.

Sean Payton won a SB. He is clueless about defense. Ahhh, but he had Brees.
