Read: The Rangers Are Built To Do Some Damage

Prior to the lockout ending, Michael Del Zotto spoke with Ken Campbell of The Hockey News about how frustrating it was for the lockout to be preventing the Rangers from taking another step.

Del Zotto said that once they got a chance to play, the Rangers would show what kind of team they are.

“Last year we had a great year, kind of exceeded everyone’s expectations of what we could do. Being a young team we gained a lot of experience from two game sevens and game six in the Conference Finals. Then bringing in such a big piece with Rick Nash, who is an explosive talent. We are built to do some damage.

Following the first day of training camp, Henrik Lundqvist said, at ESPNNY, that the key to taking the next step is all in execution “I think we have the team to do it. But then it’s about executing and go out there. We look at the guys in the room, they’re great hockey players, but it’s about executing and see if we can do it.”

Marc Staal said “We have to make sure that we focus on the way we need to play and pick up where we left off last year and go from there and not get too distracted by the big picture.”

Ryan Callahan made it known that last year was in the past and that the Rangers need to go out and prove themselves all over again.
