Buzz: The NHL Wants To Start Training Camps On January 12

1:17PM: Darren Dreger tweets “League will consider “tweaks” or “trades” in what has been proposed, but another overhaul won’t be received well.”

1:13PM: David Shoalts spoke with an NHL executive who said that the key date in all of this is January 5th. The NHL needs a deal by January 5th which will allow one week for paperwork and then one week for training camp and the season starting on January 19th.

Shoalts says that January 19th us the last possible day to start the season.

10:46AM: According to Bruce Garrioch, the NHL wants to start training camp on January 12th.

Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News tweets that the NHL wants to start the season on January 19th and would like a week-long training camp leading up to it.

He says that the NHL wants this deal done by January 10th or 11th.


Craig Custance tweets that the salary cap could still be a big issue for the players as they are concerned about escrow with the cap being around $60 million.
