If there are no walk-outs, pouting or posturing, an NHL deal will be done by early next week.—

9:24AM:Last night on Sportsnet, Doug MacLean and Scott Morrison spoke about the latest in the CBA talks following the NHLPA’s counteroffer to the NHL.
MacLean said that people inside the meeting room say that there is a long way to go but with a firm deadline of needing to drop the puck by January 19th, “it’s time for serious negotiations and time for the theatrics to be over. Enough of the foolishness.”
Morrison added that the fact that there was no blowup and that both Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr were measured when they met the media was an encouraging sign.
Scott Burnside writes at ESPN.com “It might be an oversimplification, but it appears the less that gets said publicly about the how these talks are progressing, it seems the more work gets done. “
