How 'bout those Spurs? John Donovan 5pts It is really not a big decision. Nothing to agonize over. Just cut the guy. Pete 57 5pts Before we signed Johnson you heard a lot of people say he was temperamental and didn't always play hard. I have to admit there were a couple of games that it appeared to me he ran very hard and very well. Which made me wonder if he sometimes decides to play hard and sometimes not. Hard for us to know. JETSFAN124 5pts @JetsTalkLine honestly would rather they resign Powell than keep Johnson. I think Powell would have been more productive with those touches bob 5pts awesome.http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/outposts/post/locomotive-easily-carves-snowdrifts/ Pablo Bruno 5pts Last season we could have drafted D'anthony Thomas and not sign CJ, and we probably would have gotten a lot more production, another Idzik blunder jetsonly47 5pts Lets not be too hasty to rule out keeping CJ. The guy never misses a game, his YPC isn't bad at 4+. If he was used correctly with a better QB he may have had Tomlinson type numbers. And he's not costing $5+ million; only the difference between the cap hit for cutting and keeping him. It was sick to see him used where Ivory was the man, over and over again and visa versa. I liked Spiller, but the difference is CJ is game ready every game. He still has something to prove and used properly can put up LT numbers with an improved OLine through the draft and better coaching and play calling. Who else is available? A crapshoot draftee. No thanks - pick a 6th rounder for that and keep the stud with the speed and ability to still break a big gain. Give him the 3rd down role and stick with it so the dude knows what to focus on. ohno 5pts OCcur Bib, pacea Hoz 5pts let me get this straight if the jets cut percy harvin & cj spiller we would have around 55 mil in cap space? McGeorge 5pts CJ is old, has a big mouth, and is unproductive. I'd rather have Bilal Powel, at the veterans minimum, than CJ. McGeorge 5pts The Jets should "show interest" in Revis, to drive up his asking price for the Pats. dsmizzle 5pts Nein! hazard2012 5pts @jma020 Not sure that's the debate, though. It's more a question of is CJ worth $5M per, and can he be upgraded any number of ways, either through FAcy or the draft? Powell is a decent lunch-pail type third back who can run, catch and block a little. He provides some insurance and depth, and he doesn't cost much. He's not starter quality, nor is he a comparable replacement for CJ. He's kind of a separate discussion unto himself. johnnyl65 5pts @jma020 No. MikeFrancesser 5pts @jma020 No. Bent moderator 5pts @Brendan I only just saw the score. Unbelievable. We never beat Arsenal.Kane has been in good form since I said I don't rate him. joemustgo 5pts Harry f'ing Kane! joemustgo 5pts @bob Got it. OL in the 1st. joemustgo 5pts @Pablo Bruno Revisionist history. No one thought signing him was a bad idea at the time. hitchhiker 5pts I'd cut CJ because he's too 1 dimensional. He isn't good enough as a blocker or receiver, & is trending downward on the frequency of big plays over the past few years. There are too many 2 yard runs & not enough big plays imo.I'd like to see them draft a RB that can catch the ball & contribute on punt or kick returns. Disgruntled Jets Fan 5pts @jetsonly47 No, just no. 3.5M savings when we cut him - that could go somewhere more useful. Pablo Bruno 5pts @Hoz You mean simply CJ, we should cut CJ and sign spiller a57se 5pts @Hoz Nope, not quite straight yet... pisano 5pts @McGeorge I totally agree. a57se 5pts @McGeorge and increase the chances of getting docked a draft pick for tampering... Bent moderator 5pts @Brendan Also had a five team accumulator with five away wins and I got the other four right. Naturally I backed Spurs to lose so this result screwed me over. Was going to donate the winnings to my hair campaign.Harry Kane literally steals money from needy children. bob 5pts @joemustgo @bob Ha ha ha ha ha oh that's good. a57se 5pts @joemustgo @Pablo Bruno Wrong again... jetsonly47 5pts @joemustgo @Pablo Bruno Considering that we had a brutal schedule, played from behind a lot, didn't have a stellar oline and Ds were stacking the box and the bum play calling, how much could one expect from CJ? Admittedly, he played below our high expectations, but he wasn't the only one. All these troubles should be rectified this year when he has more playmakers around him to divert some of the attention away from our running game. I want the experienced guys who know how to make big plays and have done it before. I also get he's aging, but that's my take and hope the new coaches see it the same way. We saved money before on "bargain" players and how did that work out?, but now we don't need to bargain hunt nearly as much. Let a 5th round RB with upside learn from Ivory and CJ. Save an earlier RB pick to be used on the oline. Enough on CJ from here.. hazard2012 5pts @joemustgo @Pablo Bruno Yeah...the number of guys we coulda woulda shoulda had last draft can give you nightmares. Let's be thankful Idzik isn't still here to screw up another draft and FAcy. Very much looking forward to seeing the moves the new regime makes. pete57 5pts In other news we could've drafted Dan Marino JCuratola3 5pts @Disgruntled Jets Fan @jetsonly47 We do have Ivory who is very underrated in the league imo. Hoz 5pts @a57se @Hoz what you mean? that number is not accurate? McGeorge 5pts @a57se @McGeorge Not necessarily. They can publicly say they need corner backs, and made a mistake letting Cro go. As for tampering, we don't know what the NFL has communicated to the Jets about the "investigation".If the NFL tells the Jets not to pursue him, then fine (though the NFLPA could complain). If the NFL has absolved the Jets, then go ahead and negotiate. Randy Wilson Jr. 5pts @jetsonly47 @joemustgo @Pablo Bruno I 2nd that. CJ is worth bringing back for 1 more season. chazjetfan 5pts @JCuratola3 @Disgruntled Jets Fan @jetsonly47 And Powell is a damn good RB who was thrown to the side, we are good at RB, don't need Spiller for 6 games before he gets hurt. a57se 5pts @Hoz @a57se Cut Chris johnson not CJ Spiller... williamg1 5pts @Hoz @a57se Just the name Marcus Armstrong 5pts @McGeorge @a57se His point is that we can only do that starting March... 7th, I believe? RockyMountainJet 5pts @a57se @Hoz But don't sign Spiller. Hoz 5pts @a57se @Hoz oh my bad to late to edit lol. Hoz 5pts @williamg1 @Hoz @a57se oh ok,i read a article on the bleacher report on how the jets can have even more salary cap space and releasing johnson & harvin also restructing d'brick we had around 60 mil to spend. a57se 5pts @Marcus Armstrong @McGeorge @a57se Revis is still under contract with the Pats and is not scheduled to become a free agent so unless the Pats cut him, there is nothing to talk about period. Hoz 5pts @RockyMountainJet @a57se @Hoz we need to fixed the oline & secondary first before we even think about spending on weapons. a57se 5pts @Hoz @a57se haha, happens all the time. a57se 5pts @Hoz @williamg1 @a57se We don't need to restructure Brick... that would probably be counter productive. RockyMountainJet 5pts @Hoz @RockyMountainJet @a57se Spiller is made of glass. He has never stayed healthy for a full season. Hoz 5pts @a57se @Hoz all & all,i hope they make good use of all that cap space. Pat d 5pts The Jets need to start thinking about Brick's replacement Hoz 5pts @RockyMountainJet @Hoz @a57se that worries me to as well especially if we can get duke johnson in the 2nd rd that does the same thing.
