Whoa.  Clicked on a link that took me to the Giants SNY blog site and read this mouthful about next week's opponent:

The Giants scored a resounding victory over the floundering Titans in Nashville on Sunday in a game that was so one-sided, it was bizarre in nature.

Some perspective: the Giants, who have a league-high 20 players on season-ending injured reserve, walloped a team who was playing without both their starting WRs and OTs. They also started a rookie at both QB and RB, and the QB had an injured AC joint in his throwing shoulder. An ugly matchup featuring lots of backups and late-season free agents masquerading as NFL players.

The Titans played as poorly as I’ve seen an NFL team play in recent memory. If the Giants had not blown them out, I’d be calling for housecleaning this very moment. They were that bad.

It was as hollow a victory as you can get in this league, but in this sorry, lost season the Giants will take it and run. In fact, they were so ecstatic they finally won a game after 63 days, they let their emotions get ahold of them, acting like a bunch of jackas*es in the second half with classless displays of unsportsmanlike conduct and chippy play.

It was an ugly game with some ugly moments. As a lifelong fan, it just might be one of the lowest moments in my 47 years of watching Giant football. Other than the play of rookies Odell Beckham, Jr., Andre Williams and Devon Kennard, I found little to be pleased about.

Idzik is back shopping in the Semi-Pro bin again…

He was cut by the worst team in football.

Which makes him just John's kinda guy!

@a57se Yeah, because trash talking hasn't been around as long as the game itself.

How many players are available that could have been signed to the practice squad that would not be considered "dumpster diving" or shopping at the bargain store?

Considering you'd need to be (a) available and (b) practice squad eligible, the answer is zero, so this is a moot criticism.

Nice pick up.  He has some promise based on what I saw of him in preseason.

Not really.  This is a bottom of the roster move, they're not actively trying to fix anything going on with the current team with this move.

I think Cascadden addressed a point like this on the post game last week about how the Pats, Phins and Bills have at least 3 times the bottom of the roster churn as the Jets do...and they all have winning records

Idzik thought this team would be just bad enough to hand Rexs head to Woody on a silver platter...turns out he was so incompetent they are in the race for the first overall pick

I'd have to look into that but Idzik came with a reputation for doing even more tinkering with the bottom end of the roster than Tannenbaum did (and he was already criticized for doing too much).  I think that's probably true too, or at least was last year, although there were more long term injuries then.

Are you sure Cascadden didn't suggest the opposite: That the Jets "move the deckchairs" too much with not enough significant moves?  I'd be surprised if they all tinkered more than the Jets.

The reason Idzik does it a lot is because the Seahawks did too and had great success in doing so, uncovering a few gems that way.

@Bent @Ed D @a57se @Hanknaples @metjetnet No they had the stat the Pats had 32 bottom roster moves, Phins and 23 and the Bills 18
...

Idzik made SIX this year...meaning he gave up on this team

He (meaning John Idzik), his approach to this off season and his personality is the biggest reason we are a 2 win football team in my humble opinion...he should be fired right before the start of the final game of the regular season

Not buying those numbers, sorry.

Yes, the Jets have added six new guys to the roster since the season began: Owusu, Graham, Thomas, Williams, Conner and Johnson.

They also added Harvin but I guess that's not a "bottom of the roster move".  They made multiple additions to the practice squad and also activated Barnes off the PUP.  Again, if their total is six then these don't count.  Also they activated Pantale, Simms, Lequan Lewis and maybe more, but again these apparently don't count.

Now looking at the Pats' transaction list.  They've activated just 13 players to the active roster all year, most of which were suspended, injured or on the practice squad.

Seems like these numbers were massaged in order to make a point which isn't really viable.
