Through six games, the Rangers have a total of 180 shots on goal, 154 shots blocked and 83 missed shots.
The Caps have have a total of 156 shots on goal, 93 shots blocked and 78 missed shots.
John Tortorella said earlier this week “we haven’t blocked many shots because we have had the puck. We know how hard they play defense and we are just going to go and play.”
Bill Pidto said: “They are out-Rangering the Rangers.”
Ron Duguay said: “A blocked shot is taking away a chance, but blocking that many means that the Rangers are having the puck.”
Brian Leetch added: “It bodes well for the Rangers because it means the Rangers are putting pressure on.”
Dave Maloney said on MSG: “All season long, the Rangers frustrated their opponent and now they are playing against themselves” and that Leetch added “I completely agree with what Dave said about looking in the mirror and playing themselves.”
#Caps Laich on shot blocking: “Shot blocking isn’t a skill, it’s a will. It’s a decision that you’re going to do it or you’re not going to.”
