At CSN Philly, Tim Panaccio writes that the Flyers don’t need to match the Rangers acquisition of Rick Nash up front, they need to match it on defense.
He notes that Bobby Ryan isn’t the solution to the Flyers issues, saying “The Flyers don’t need Ryan. They needed Suter or Weber.”
Panaccio adds “As for the Rangers and Nash … The Rangers were a better team than the Flyers last season even without Nash. The Rangers need more scoring. The Flyers need less goals against.”
“The Rangers, from the blue line through goal, where Henrik Lundqvist virtually owned them last season, are stronger than the Flyers. What the Flyers have to do is match them somehow on the other side of the blue line.”
Last season Wayne Simmonds said of the Rangers dominance over the Flyers “It burns. That’s definitely a team you don’t want to lose to, six games especially. I know for myself and for everyone on this team, it’s eating us up inside.”
