At HF’s Rangers Blog, Leslie Treff looks at the last year of Brandon Dubinsky’s four-year contract and wonders what position he will have with the team at that point.
She points to the players the Rangers have coming up through the system and the ones under contract to wonder where Dubi will fit by the end of his contract.
If Dubinsky plays up to the level that he thinks he can, the players coming through the system will need to find their spots in the lineup around his. Treff covers the prospects and may see some high level guys, Chris Kreider and Christian Thomas, coming that will benefit the Rangers more than Dubinsky. It’s up to Dubi to make sure that he is a Ranger for a long time and part of their core.
At the same time, it’s four years from now. It’s hard to know how any of the team, minus Brad Richards and likely Marc Staal, will look then.
