At 12AM this morning, Alex Edler’s no-trade clause kicked in and John Shannon writes that all the Canucks did was listen to what teams were offering for Edler.
He says that nothing was good enough for the Canucks.
On TSN’s Insider trading last night, Pierre LeBrun said “the Canucks were listening all weekend long and the Red Wings made an offer. It wasn’t good enough. Anaheim kicked the tires and the Montreal Canadians also inquired on Edler in a package that wasn’t good enough. It’s a high asking price and Vancouver feels as if they are listening and not shopping. I think Montreal will circle back and so will Detroit and we will see whether he gets moved.”
Edler was in play all weekend and it was thought, due to his connection to Alain Vigneault, that the Rangers would be involved.
