At Sportsnet, Michael Grange writes that there are two groups of people who are talking to Gary Bettman and telling what their different wants are.
One group is the big market teams, like the Rangers and Maple Leafs, along with corporate sponsors and TV broadcast holders who want the NHL back on the ice.
The other group includes the small market teams that are struggling like Florida and Columbus who “see this next CBA as being the key to their ability to survive, if not thrive.”
Grange writes that to help out the struggling franchises, Bettman is committed to having the salary floor be no more than $44 million.
Yesterday on Sportsnet, Nick Kypreos said that Bettman is just trying to keep the promises that he made to small market teams about lowering the salary cap.
