In a chat with the Rangers website, Gordie Clark was asked which prospects he thought had a real chance of making the team out of training camp.
Clark said that he felt Chris Kreider and JT Miller had a good chance to make the team and that with the injuries to Carl Hagelin and Ryan Callahan, Oscar Lindberg and Jesper Fast would have a good chance as well.
He notes, in regards to JT Miller, that if he had been healthy during the playoffs, he likely would have played for the Rangers.
Clark, in a separate chat with the Rangers website, said that Danny Kristo is a guy the Rangers acquired with the hope that he could fill one of the roles left open by Hagelin and/or Callahan.
Larry Brooks writes in the NY Post that if the Rangers place either Hagelin or Callahan on LTIR to start the season, with the intent of bringing in other players and getting some salary cap relief, Callahan and Hagelin would be ineligible for the first 10 games or 24 days of the season.
It is expected that Marek Hrivik will compete for a job as well.
