Read: The Power Play May Be Close

On Saturday against the Maple Leafs, for the first time this season, John Tortorella took Marian Gaborik off the PP unit that featured Rick Nash and Brad Richards.

The Rangers practiced yesterday with Gaborik on a different unit that included Anton Stralman, Ryan McDonagh, Taylor Pyatt and Derek Stepan.

Richards was moved off the point and shifted down low with Nash and Ryan Callahan. Dan Girardi and Michael Del Zotto are on the points for that PP unit.

Even while going scoreless against the Maple Leafs, John Tortorella said yesterday that he felt the power play was close and added that they need to get consistency

Brad Richards said, yesterday “we have a basis for what we want to do and now we just need to execute.”

The Rangers power play has struggled this season.
