Screen Shot 2013-07-16 at 12.59.46 PM12:10PM: According to Chris Kuc, who spoke with NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, the NHL expects to release the schedule and an official announcement about the Olympics at some point this week and maybe as early as today.

8:24AM: In the Ottawa Citizen, Ian Mendes has the Rangers involved in two of the ten most intriguing matchups next season.

He lists the Rangers games against Vancouver and Columbus as games that have the best potential storylines.

The Canucks because of the coaching swap that took place during the offseason between Alain Vigneault and John Tortorella and because Mendes wonders how Tortorella, who wants to be kinder and cultivate a relationship with the Vancouver media, will handle being around the NY media again.

He picks the Blue Jackets and Rangers because when the Rangers visit Columbus, it will mark the first time that Rick Nash returns to Columbus. It will also be the first time that the teams have met since the two trades they made that reshaped their respective rosters.

The 2013-14 schedule is expected to be released this week. The Rangers will see Vancouver in the preseason as well as twice during the regular season. The Rangers will play the Blue Jackets either four or five times.
