At CSN Bay Area, Kevin Kurz looks at the defensemen still on the market and which could be a fit for the Sharks as they appear to be short one defenseman.
Kurz thinks that Michael Rozsival or Carlo Colaiacovo would be good additions to play on the third pair for the Sharks.
Last season the Rangers used 11 defenseman in at least one game including Michael Del Zotto, Marc Staal, Ryan McDonagh, Anton Stralman, Dan Girardi, Tim Erixon, Jeff Woywitka, Michael Sauer, Stu Bickel, Brenden Bell and Steve Eminger.
With Michael Sauer not guaranteed to return by training camp, the Rangers have six defensemen signed, Del Zotto, Staal, Stralman, McDonagh, Girardi and Bickel.
Defensemen in Hartford are Steve Delisle, Sean Collins, Logan Pyett, Mike Vernace, Blake Parlett Dylan McIlrath and Wade Redden.
Adam Rotter: They need at least one more defenseman for the roster and it would be nice to see them add another Brendan Bell kind of guy who will play in Hartford but also has NHL experience and could step in. Guys are going to get injured and they need to be prepared for that and right now they don’t seem to have enough depth. Collins may be the Brendan Bell of this season, an AHL guy who has some NHL experience, but there is still a need for more depth.
