The Blueshirts can’t make a meaningful trade because they can’t afford to move the few assets other teams actually want.
Brooks notes that the Rangers offered Bobby Sanguinietti to Phoenix for former first round pick Peter Mueller. Mueller only has six points this season and has declined each of his three NHL seasons.
Former Rangers assistant GM Don Maloney rejected the trade and instead asked for Ryan Callahan or Brandon Dubinsky.
…Of course he did, but its also to early for them to give up on Mueller, he is 21. I have long felt that Bobby Sanguinietti would be traded and still do. He has talent that is showing in the minor leagues but that may not translate to the NHL, because of that, he could be used as an asset in a trade to net someone who could be more productive for the Rangers.
Brooks also says that “The Rangers will never win anything with Michal Rozsival either on the roster or in the lineup”
…That is a bold statement to make. Probably true, but still bold.
Brooks also notes, like I wrote in the Gilroy post a few down, about Sather not sending Rozsival down because of the admission of a mistake that he made.
