Over the summer, Flyers center Claude Giroux revealed that he had surgery on both of his wrist as a result of Sidney Crosby hacking him during every faceoff.
Recently, Crosby was asked about Giroux’s claims and said in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, via PD,
“I think it’s hilarious I hear that stuff from Philly. It’s comedy to me to be honest with you. They’re probably involved in that stuff more than any team in the league and they’re the ones always talking about it. I guess I’m not apologetic. I was trying to win a faceoff and if I caught his wrist, then I caught his wrist. He seemed to play okay so I couldn’t have hurt him that bad.”
Nearing the end of the regular season, when Brooks Orpik stuck his knee out and hit Derek Stepan, John Tortorella called the Penguins “one of the most arrogant organizations in the league”
Torts added “I wonder what would happen if we did it to their two whining stars over there? I wonder what would happen? They whine about this kind of stuff all the time and then look what happens. It’s ridiculous…they will whine about something else over….. there about their two ******* stars.”
Tortorella was fined $20,000 for those comments.
