For the the third straight series, the Rangers have won the opening game of the series by at least two goals.
That opening game win has been followed by a Rangers loss and then an eventual seven game series.
In the Daily News, Filip Bondy writes that after game one, the Rangers could make quick work of the Devils, “there was something different about this victory. It felt more definitive and demoralizing, like rope-a-dope, as if the Rangers had taken the Devils’ best punch in the second period and laughed in their faces.”
Bondy also quotes Devils assistant coach Larry Robinson as saying about the Rangers, “they think they’ve got this thing won. They’ve done this before.”
More on this in the NY Post.

Adam: The Devils were good for stretches last night, especially in the second period, but Henrik Lundqvist was there every step of the way. The Devils are bound to bounce back in the same way that the Capitals and the Senators did. This still has seven game series written all over it to me.
