At The Hockey News, Ken Campbell writes that if Jason Arnott, who turns 38 this season, is willing to sign for the same money that he did in St. Louis $2.875 million, he could be one of the “steals of the summer.”
He writes that while Arnott is no longer the 30 goal scorer he was in the past “He’s good on faceoffs, still has a lethal shot and can play on the power play.”
Campbell adds “He would be a good pickup for a team looking for a third-line center who can move up and down the depth chart as needs change.”
Over the last three seasons Arnott has averaged about 18 goals a year and over the last two years he has put up nearly identical stats of 17 goals and 14 assists and 17 goals and 17 assists.
He had six power play goals last season and averaged 14:05 for the Blues.
In the playoffs he had one goal and averaged close to 11 minutes a night. He is 6-5, 220 and only had 24 hits and 13 blocked shots.
Glen Sather drafted Arnott in Edmonton.
