Marty has no more excuses. this team has all the players needed to be good on offense. Its on him now.

Nice to see a win, but if anyone makes this into more than just a textbook trap game loss for Pittsburgh, they haven't been watching. Pittsburgh coming off two 6 TD games probably thought they could just show up and they'd win somehow. Again, I'm happy for the team, and particularly happy all those Steelers fans get to drive back to Pittsburgh trying to figure out wtf just happened, but this doesn't show what a genius Rex is as posted below. It shows that every team wins a few games.

The game shows what a D genius Ryan is.  A great front line, with 1 really good LB and the rest are serviceable and a secondary off the street, and another great performance by the D.  Count it...at least 6 games the D played well enough or very good and today the offense continues to struggle.  And the O has all their pieces in this game.  Today, 7 points off turnovers??  MM and the offensive coaches continue to fail this team.

Nothing goes wrong for the Pats. They are on a bye week and they watch Bills and Fish lose.

The corner gave up on that last play...the WR slowed down and then turned and jetted past him.  You can't give up.

Mangold is awesome,  he flipped that dude straight up into the air to put an end to the game.

Btw I agree with Rex... these refs have been atrocious all season... enough is enough.

Hahaha, I confused decker for Amaro. Assumed Amaro would drop the onside kick.

Putting Adams on an island was just stupid.

Ok, why didn't we have, at least, 2 people deep?

And he wasn't given safety help?

Omg!!! If they ever recover the on side kick.....

If we run the table, and the Pats lose out, we can still win the division.

Ivory was determined to get that 46 yard first down.

This has been a heck of an effort by the Jets today. Very proud.

Now the real question!! Where the H was this play all year?

@rstysanchz

Hard to say, because, as I said below, I think MM's play calling and use/misuse of weapons has been as big a problem as the QB play all season.   Maybe we'd have won one or two more games had Rex gone to Vick sooner.   But let's not fool ourselves.  This team is still deeply flawed as currently constructed.

@88keyz

I've been saying it all along when so many want to focus on Idzik, Ryan, Johnson, the secondary, did not draft DB's and on.  The biggest problem has been MM and his offensive coaches.  7 of 10 games the Jets have scored 20 points or less.  Today 17 in first quarter, 7 off a turnover, and 3 the rest of the game.  It seems MM just can't figure out what to do when its first and goal inside the 5.

@lindro88

No trap at all....Pitt just isn't that good.  Besides, it wasn't as if the Jets  were putting them away.  At some point a good team can say to get going and get it done.

@williamg1  I was going to comment about why Ben was still playing risking injury. But against the Jets, everything is possible!!!

lindro88

Apparently big $ was coming in on the Jets, that's why the spread was lower than expected.

@rkj473 Testament to the coaching staff and Percy Harvin lol

Ed D

@4EverMets Its called Vick having a month with the recievers

And Rex coaching up the young inexperienced players our GM left us with after he chose to leave 20 million in cap space

Remember we made a lot of mistakes on defense in that secondary

And when Geno wasnt throwing the game away, our WR corp was a joke when Decker went out with the hammy from hell

Jets just needed a legit starting CB another WR oppo Decker and a QB who doesnt lose the game by himself

rkj473
rkj473

@4EverMets On Geno's throwing arm. The defense actually got to rest and didn't spend the whole day on the field.

@yankspride

Marty's play calling and use of his weapons has been suspect all season, and to me has been as if not more responsible for the Jets woes on O than the shaky QB play.

lindro88
lindro88

@yankspride

Are you referring to the jets as that good team? I realize Pittsburgh is nothing special, but they've been hot the last 3 weeks. The Jets weren't going to lose 15 games. So they won today, good for them, happy for Rex and his players.

lindro88
lindro88

Actually it's called a fluke. It's the NFL, every team wins a game or two they aren't supposed to

4EverMets
4EverMets

@rkj473 @4EverMets  Sorry, I'm not letting the D off that easy!! Still NO excuse for the lack of turnovers, or 3rd down success against!! D NEVER came up big even when the team was good! Very overrated!!

Ed D
Ed D

@lindro88 Jets would have been no where as bad as they are if

1-Vick started from day 1

2- Idzik signed another WR who's name is not David Nelson or Greg Salas opposite Decker

3- Signed Vontae Davis, DRC, or resigned Cromartie, shoot maybe even brought in Flowers and went zone heavy (which theyve done anyway)...even the likes of Zach Bowman or Antoine Cason would have been better than trotting out Antonio Allen to get beat for a TD every game

Had Idzik not sat on 20 million the Jets are right in the thick of the last two wild card spots...they arent a hard team to fix

Ed D
Ed D

@lindro88 Nah no fluke...

Veteran QB played turnover free football, combined with the fact that our secondary didnt give up the big play (until a minute left)

You clearly dont watch football through the same lens I do...

Ed D
Ed D

@4EverMets @rkj473 Nope

D never had a true pass rusher in those days

Would have been different story if you replace Ellis with Mo and DeVito with Richardson
