In the Devils series with the Philadelphia Flyers, the Devils usually had between 10 and 20 of their shots blocked.
Last night the Rangers, led by Dan Girardi and Marc Staal with 5 each, blocked 26 Devils shots.
Following the game, Devils center Travis Zajac said on MSG, “they block shots and it was a lot more difficult to get pucks to the net than it was against Philly.”
Zach Parise told the Daily News, “everybody’s obsessed with their shot blocking they’re doing,” Zach Parise said. “We know that’s happening. We know that’s coming. That’s the way they play. We just gotta get around them. The opportunities were there. We had some right in front. We have to be better, we know.”
Pete DeBoer said on MSG last night that it wasn’t frustrating for the Devils,”you can’t get frustrated by something that you expect.”
Dan Girardi made it known that the Rangers are going to do what it takes to pick up the W, “we are willing to step in front of pucks and do whatever it takes to win.”
