In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes about how the Rangers could benefit from the little slide that they are on right now as a reminder of how they need to play and show the organization where the team is still weak.
“When you face challenges like this in a season and respond to them,” Callahan said, “you look back and recognize they’re good for you.”
Henrik Lundqvist told the paper that games where the team struggles need to serve as a reminder for how the team needs to play.
The Rangers “found a way to win” so many times this season that their luck with that was bound to fall at some point. That isn’t to say that the Rangers aren’t good, because they are, but they understand that they won a bunch of games where they weren’t playing their best. With Henrik Lundqvist you can win games where you aren’t at your best, but the team showed on Saturday what they were capable of and how they can win decisively. They need games like Montreal to re-set and hopefully they come out with good defensive structure tonight.
