Devin reminds me of another Jet receiver, Ken Maynard; fast, mean, great hands.  Mr. Longball for Joe.

As NFL starters, Fitzpatrick and Smith have a combined record of 44-73-1 with 148 touchdown passes against 135 interceptions. Fitzpatrick has been in the league 10 years to Smith's two, and has made 89 starts to Smith's 29, and he's never posted a winning record. So he isn't a worthy short- or long-term solution in case Smith decides to take in another movie next fall instead of attending a pregame meeting with the rest of his team.

Petty has a chance to be a lot better than both. A chance, anyway. He's a 6-foot-3 pocket passer with above-average athleticism and an arm accurate enough to throw for more than 8,000 yards in two seasons as Baylor's starter. Of the 29 touchdown passes Petty completed last year, 20 covered at least 20 yards, more than any other major-college quarterback. The knocks against him are ripped right from the book on Marcus Mariota. As another video-game operator of a spread offense, Petty has no history of huddling up teammates or taking snaps under center. Scouts and executives were worried enough about his transition to the NFL game that he wasn't among the top 100 prospects taken in the draft; he lasted until pick No. 103.

And he gets Stacy and Dubose just now. Love this guy.

So far, I love this draft. Williams is a monster. Devin Smith is the long-ball threat we were lacking. Have to admit I don't know much about Mauldin, but he seems like someone who could develop into a solid player. Taking a shot on Bryce Petty makes complete sense. This year, he'll be an upgrade over Phil Simms as the third-string QB. But no one knows what his ceiling is--whether he will become an adequate back-up or a star. The risk/reward for a 4th round pick is very good. As for Harrison--he's got the size, he's got the mobility--we just have to see if he's got the passion to be great (probably not, from what I've heard, but you never know).

C'mon Petty - put Geno out of his misery and back on the bench

@bradysucks I think a lot has gone wrong if Petty wins the starting job this summer. That would mean Geno and/or Fitz either get hurt or play so poorly they don't create much confidence. Petty would have to play out of his mind for this to be a positive, but there is always a chance. Best case scenario, IMO, is Geno develops and takes hold of the starting job and at worst is a capable game manager and at best, develops into a top 10 QB. All the while, Petty is getting valuable experience as the backup and learning from Geno's and Fitz's experience, and he develops into a solid QB next year or in two years.

I'm sorry but "arbitrage play"? Do we have a deal in place to trade him for a better draft pick than the one we used to pick him?

patriots drafted a long snapper in the 5th round!

Petty's gonna be a back up geno's starting this year and their gonna go 10-6 geno's gonna go 25-10 for 3500 yards. Cause he has weapons everywhere and won't have to force throws and playing in a system that fits him best and don't forget the athlete geno is so if everyone's coverd geno can run for the first downs easily

Great Pick. When you don't have a QB and no shot at getting the top QBs, 4th round is a great spot to grab one. Might turn out to be nothing, or a gem. Love how Macc thinks. Need to find a QB. Hope he sits a year and gets good coaching.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Jarvis Harrison.  First things first, would just like to get it out of the way that I like basketball more than football"

@MarshRandy

He better get motivated quick.

Harrison will be practicing everyday against Wilkerson, Richardson and Leonard Williams.

Which RBs will be left around 7th round worth drafting. It feels we have neglected RBs in a RB heavy draft like we did last year with WRs.

jenkins

@sumjetsfan you can get FA's for that position, too. Macc is a longtime scout. I bet he signs a bunch of FA'stonite.

Ya don't groom RB. Ya get em and then ya play em.

Now we'll see how good the trade down in third is with selections of Mauldin and Harrison.

We might have just gotten a steal in round 5. Harrison is physically gifted and extremely powerful. His issue has always been motivation which is supposedly what Bowles is good at addressing.

This guy is better than Aboushi and Winters and could end up starting in my opinion

@bradysucks  He's going to be getting paid now. If he buys in that he's a professional FB player, and wants to get rich on his next contract, he can be a pro bowler.

He already has better instincts, and awareness than any guard we have.

@bradysucks IDK a lot of peeps are saying his knee is bone on bone. He wont last long like that.

Luckily Leonard Williams and Boss Hogg will eat Ajayi like he's an appetizer but he is still one of my favorite RB's in the draft

The Harrison pick makes not taking Duke or David Johnson, Eli Harold, or Jalen Strong in round 3 a little easier to bear. That trade makes better sense now

@bradysucks

Ajayi will fumble the ball as soon as he sees them, they won't even have to hit him.

I think every running back in the NFL including Adrien Peterson will pooooop their pants as soon as they get hit a few times by the savages on our d-line

Ajayi was a great pick for the Fins

I wish the Jets would draft a RB

I forgot he was still available, good pic in the 5th, probably sits right behind carpenter or Colon on the depth chart

@greggreen  IDK he has to earn it but I have faith in him.
