Allen was straight garbage last night. But he is being asked to learn a whole new postion, while still playing safety from time to time.

Hey Bent, I noticed a few plays where it seemed like the Jets were playing Seattles' coverage scheme...was I seeing things that weren't there?

Is Allen okay? It looked like Amendola broke his ankles with that juke last night.

Doesn't it seem like Geno's footwork gets worse every week?

Kyle Wilson taught Allen how to properly lack ball awareness.

Bent, this is probably in the wrong thread, but what do you think of A. Coples snaps decreasing B. Kyle Wilson playing the outside when they NEVER let him play out there C. Kenrick Ellis going from healthy scratch to get quality reps and looking fairly good doing it.

I think Allen will be benched long term or cut, imo after this disaster.

quick fantasy advice... I have steve smith and cobb starting at wr. charles and bell at rb. do i go with emanuel in the flex or tate?

Great point on Allen and the Vlad treatment.

Allen is best suited to a Big Nickel or strong Safety role.

We use him everywhere but that and then bench him when he doesn't perform well?

Allen with 4.6 speed should NOT be covering Danny Amendola...where is Kyle Wilson, the slot CB and why isn't he covering Amendola?

Like Vlad, i wish him well wherever he ends up.

Edit: This is why Calvin Pryor was a dumb pick. We used a first round pick for a box safety when we had a 7th rounder who could play there already.

@Jeff E. Guy

That is what happens when you have a box safety covering a slot receiver...

@williamg1

One of the toughest things for a QB to correct. McNabb struggled with it his whole career.

@t__k

I don't remember seeing Ellis out there last night...

@harold Benched in favor of whom? Patterson has been cut, McDougal and Millner are done for the year and they were supposed to be the Ones. The last time I remember a secondary this bad, Rich Kotite assembled it. He pulled a guy off the street to cover TIm Brown on MNF. Brown toasted him on the first drive and let him know that was going to happen all night. (It did).

@harold

you're probably right and that would be short sighted.

@rexryguy

emanuel Sanders?

If so, then him.

Though I would sit Smith and play Tate as well.

@a57se

Making me wonder how they talked themselves out of Kelvin Benjamin after the combine.

If Benjamin were on this offense, opposite Decker, there really wouldn't be any excuses for underperforming.

I agree on the Pryor pick as you know.  Just think the plays were very basic that Allen messed up on.  Especially the lack of awareness and effort on the PI.

@a57se @williamg1 Kyle Wilson was in all his glory after making tackles on kickoff coverage after 30 yard returns.

@a57se @t__k Saw him for a few snaps, unless I was mistaken.  In the Denver game he was blowing up the center.

@a57se @t__k I saw him get killed on a play in the first qrtr. I don't recall him after that.

I think the bench is a great place for him.  He has made mental errors that gave up TD's or explosive plays of 40 or more in almost every game this season.

rexryguy

@a57se @harold agreed. I hope Idzik remains as patient this offseason (with likely more turmoil) as he was last off-season. I do believe he will be.

@jdb4 @a57se

If we had Benjamin, Tate and Ed Reed we would be 5-1 or 4-2.  Just didn't get it 100% done in the off season.

Reed would have allowed us to win the Packers, Bears, Lions and Pats.  Those games were lost on just silly fundamental errors in the secondary.

@harold @a57se

He shouldn't be in a primary coverage role...

that's like asking geno to play TE...

Bytor

@harold @jdb4 @a57se And drafting a better wco running back instead of CJ and the dollars would almost be a wash.

Next year will be a big year for Idzik and the team, 3 year plan and all.

@harold @jdb4 @a57se

I don't know if you remember, but I wanted us to sign Lafell...i thought he would be a good, low cost alternative at WR...I was ridiculed.

harold

@a57se @harold

But he can play that role. He was not beat on any of those three plays because of physical limitations.  If he was I don't bang on guys for physical limitations.  But mental and effort errors (not playing to your keys, not playing the situation, lack of effort/awareness).

That is inexcusable.

rexryguy
rexryguy

@a57se @harold thats why we keep him. when we get some cb depth we can put him back in his real position but he got beaten up last night, if he doesnt improve at cb he needs to sit. im not saying its his fault but either way needs to sit.

@harold @a57se

the guy has been bounced around the secondary like a tennis ball..I am surprised he knows what position he is playing at any given time...sorry, I can't blame the kid for this.

@rexryguy @a57se @harold

There was no one else to put out there...I really hope that is what rex is pissed about, not Allen.

@harold

If we had drafted one of the CB's in the first round, Allen would be playing his usual box role and be just fine.

rexryguy

@a57se @rexryguy @harold i see what your saying but I personally would experiment with someone else a little even if its a true cb a little deeper in our roster. Also, how about that guy we just signed from seattle, his name escapes me. if im not mistaken he has good size, Maybe we give him a chance next week.
