Note: Potential Salary Cap and NHL Future Plans For International Hockey

According to a few tweets from Chris Botta of the Sports Business Journal, the NHL is planning to add a tournament similar to the Champions league in European Soccer which would feature top NHL and European clubs.

He says that the league hopes to add this tournament by 2016. This would be in addition to a future World Cup of Hockey.

Botta also notes that the NHL is producing an eight-part documentary on players in the Heritage Classic and the Stadium Series games.

Allan Walsh notes that league projections have the salary cap reaching an upper limit of $80 million in three-years. He notes that if the projection is correct than the salary floor would be $64.3 million. $64.3 million is currently the upper limit for the salary cap.
