According to Andy Strickland, at True Hockey, former Rangers third round pick Evgeny Grachev is likely to return to Russia and play in the KHL.
Grachev is an RFA after his entry-level contract, signed with the Rangers, expired.
He spent all of last season in the AHL where he had 11 goals and 15 assists.
Strickland writes that when you see Grachev step onto the ice you see everything you want in an NHL player but he hasn’t been able to find a way to produce consistently.
Grachev was traded to St. Louis at the draft in 2011 for a third round pick that ended up being Steven Fogarty. Grachev was moved because he had requested a trade and a new start.
