Not sure I understand Rex' logic on the blocked punt. We are SO worried that Ted Ginn Jr will return a punt for a TD that we alter the blocking for the punt (extra flyers per Rex). Kick it away from TGJ ?...kick it out of bounds ?...sure, these are not great options either. But, the worst one was what occurred. I think we (coaches) are overthinking the punt. Kick the freakin' ball and get down the field, and make the tackle. That is what good teams do.

What?  You'd prefer to beat Miami than lose a Round I playoff game?

Play the young guys and bench anyone (Holmes, Reed, Winslow, Cro?) who isn't part of the future.

Even though we lost yesterday. I thought we did see a little maturity from the Jets offense. At least the offense wasn't getting blown up. I think Geno is starting to catch on he's looking better. and even though Winters had a huge mistake  to stop a drive going good at the time for the offense.. over all better than what I have seen. progress.

So this will be our third year of not playing to well however next year you can count on it that the Jets will be a really good coming up team. A lot of our rookie have gotten some good experience this year. And that's a good thing.. At this point in time maybe we should get them in the game . I would really Like to see Allen and Jaiquawn playing time increase.

@1969JAN12th Two guys both let a free runner go by them up the middle. The design wasn't flawed, the execution was.

@Mark Phelan I just mean that at least they'd be ending the season on a high, whereas you make the playoffs and get knocked out, you always end the season on a downer.

Its possible. Miami has to go into Buffalo to get a win there that most likely not gonna happen .

If the Lions win tonight "at home" chance's are better for the Lions. Ravens game will be a close one I gotta go with New England beating the Ravens in the cheating as NE does 4th quarter win.....Count on New England to cheat and come back in the 4th quarter.

@Brendan @1969JAN12th  I suppose you are correct; however, if the special teams coach of the Panthers can figure out the weakness, then I imagine that Ben Kotwica should be able to see the weakness as well:

"Panthers linebacker Jason Williams found a way to exploit the Jets' special-teams unit. And it worked.

"We noticed that they were shifting their wing out to the side of the punt and bringing the personal punt protector down on the line, which leaves no one in the backfield,'' said Williams, who blocked Ryan Quigley's punt to give the Panthers the ball at the Jets' 14 and swing the momentum in Carolina's favor. "It basically gave me a one-on-one with the long snapper. So it was something we noticed and we figured if they did it again, we would capitalize."

"Williams easily blew by long snapper Tanner Purdum and had a clean path up the middle."

@bob @DarrolRayFanClub If all that is going to happen anyway, might as well root for the whole thing. Steelers lose to GB in the return of Rodgers in GB and the Ravens lose to the Bengals, who are playing for a bye week. Then all we'd need to do is win out and hope the Chiefs win a meaningless game against the Chargers in Week 17, and we're in the playoffs. It's not likely that everything goes our way, because it's a lot of things, but Dolphins losing in Buffalo is the only real upset, in my mind. The problem is how unlikely it would be for there to be no upsets that go the other way, and there only needs to be one more to officially knock us out.

There's also another thing I'm going to start root for if the Ravens win tonight (knocking us out 100%). If the Ravens also beat the Patriots and the Bengals, the Dolphins beat the Bills and us, and the Bills pull out a win against the Patriots, the Pats miss the playoffs entirely.  The Dolphins would end up with a bye, so it isn't a perfect solution, but it would be a consolation prize.

@1969JAN12th

Part of good coaching is anticipating what the other team will do when you change things up. Poor coaching is doing the same risky thing over and over again until you get burned.
