According to the Vancouver Sun there the Canucks and and Jason Arnott have held preliminary talks and Arnott’s agent said “There seems to be some mutual interest.”
The paper notes though that the Canucks won’t look to sign Arnott until the Shane Doan situation is resolved and that if they do sign Doan, they are unlikely to sign Arnott.
On Arnott, the paper says that he is the kind of player the Canucks want to add “Arnott does seem to fit the mold for what the Canucks are looking for in a third-line centre. He has good size — 6-5 and 220 pounds — and is still capable of chipping in some offence. In 72 games last season with the St. Louis Blues, Arnott had 17 goals and 34 points.”
Reports earlier this week suggested that the Canucks had interest in Arnott to be their third line center.
52% of readers said that they wouldn’t mind seeing Arnott as a Ranger.
