According to Bruce Berlet at Howlings, Rangers assistant GM Jim Schoenfeld says that the team will discuss bringing back center Jarkko Immonen who has spent the past four seasons playing in Europe.
Immonen was acquired from the Maple Leafs for Brian Leetch in 2004. He played 20 games for the Rangers between 2005 and 2007, scoring 3 goals and five assists.
He won a gold medal with Finland at the World Championships.
The Rangers still retain his NHL rights.
This would be interesting, but he didn’t exactly tear up the KHL the last two years, with only 38 points each year. He is 28 years old, so maybe they will try to sign him to a one year deal and see what happens. Has he picked up the necessary foot speed that stopped him from being a regular with the Rangers?
