Buzz: The Rangers Tried To Sign Steve Eminger Two Years Ago

In his interview with Jim Cerny of New York, Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather said that the Rangers tried to sign defenseman Steve Eminger two seasons ago before he signed with Tampa Bay.

Eminger was acquired for Aaron Voros and Ryan Hillier a few weeks ago.

Of Eminger, Sather says, “We think he’s going to fit in really well. He skates well, is fairly aggressive, has a good shot.”

…Eminger provides NHL ready depth if he falls to be the seventh defenseman. If someone is hurt or is in need of a benching, the Rangers have Eminger, an NHL caliber player ready to step in and help. They don’t need to rely on players from the minors whom they either, don’t think are ready, or NHL players to fill in during injury times now.
