UPDATE: 10:51AM: Andy Strickland tweets that Richards has decided he will sign with the Rangers.

Update: 10:26AM Steve Zipay re-tweets a tweet from Sportsnet In Canada which said that there is no set time for the announcement, but it should be around noon.

Update: 9:34AM:Darren Dreger tweets that the Rangers and Kings are neck and neck at this point.

Update: 7:59AM: Darren Dreger tweets that there is a sense that Richards will make his announcement before 12PM.

Original Post: 7:31AM: In the NY Post, Larry Brooks says that the Rangers are very much alive, as one of four teams, in their pursuit of free agent Brad Richards.

It is believed that the Rangers offered a front loaded deal with a cap hit of $6.5-$7 million for six to eight years.

Brooks says that the Rangers had GM Glen Sather, owner James Dolan, John Tortorella and Mark Messier speak to Richards as part of their pitch.

He also writes that he “has received as clean a medical report as possible” after suffering a concussion last February.
