Buzz: The CBA May Not Be Ratified Until Saturday

According to Chris Johnston of the CP, the players may not vote to ratify the CBA until Saturday.

Johnston adds in a follow up tweet “With player vote through Sat, training camps likely won’t open before Sun. Bill Daly says they can still start Jan. 19. ‘Barely, but yes.'”

Tom Gulitti says that this delay would all but guarantee that the schedule will only be 48 games.

Training camp can not start until the CBA is ratified.

I was just thinking it was a shame that DeVito took a paycut to stay in KC.  He'd have been a perfect fourth lineman with the ability to play "emergency" nose reps.

@tsjc68 One of the biggest takeaways from researching this BGA was that David Diehl really sucks.

On the field for that play:

Stephen Bowen

Ryan Fitzpatrick

LaRon Landry

In the building:

Josh Wilson

Brad Smith

Phillip Buchanon

Santana Moss

Chan Gailey

Kevin Patullo

Hey do you know if Ryan Slowik is Bob Slowik's son?

He was on the Redskins defensive staff at that time.

Heh.  If the DL doesn't make the play, it's going to the house.

That sounds more like the Hankskins I know and loathe.

@Disgruntled Jets Fan Can't find this anywhere.  I guess Hofstra shut down all their records when they ceased the football program.

@Bent @Disgruntled Jets Fan

I can't even find a still picture of him in his Hofstra uni.  There's only one shot of Colon, as well.

Thanks, Bent.   Another nice job.    As you say, I think it's reasonable to hope that Bowen can do a "functional job" in a "rotational role"...providing he even makes the final roster.    Same is probably true for Vickerson, Hilliard, Brewer and Davis.   All nearly identical deals with very similar expectations.

@hazard2012

I'd rank them in terms of their ability to contribute/make the roster as follows:

Vickerson

(gap)

Davis

Bowen

(gap)

Hilliard

(gap)

Colon

(gap)

Brewer

I reckon Talley has a chance to beat out Vickerson AND Bowen.

Agree Davis has a good chance to make the team.

Would be nice if Dozier stepped up and then they wouldn't need Brewer and perhaps not even Colon either.

True.  From the Maccagnan futures deals, Talley and Curtis Brown actually probably decent bets to win spots if they can stay healthy and throw in some good work on specials.  They have youth on their side.

(Yes, I didn't mention Sean Hooey.  No, it was not an oversight.)

@tsjc68 @Bent @hazard2012 Just curious as to some realistic/probable moves we can make at LB between the remaining FA's, the draft and players that could be cut?

tsjc68
tsjc68

@High$ocietyJet @tsjc68 @Bent @hazard2012

Well, we've kicked tires on Spencer Paysinger, Jamari Lattimore, and Jason Trusnik as backup ILBs/special teams stalwarts and we're still engaged with Nick Bellore (Bent indicates he wants to come back but we haven't matched the pricepoint he has from other suitors yet).

I've also mentioned guys like Philip Wheeler, Joe Mays, Nick Roach, Kaelin Burnett, Larry Dean, and Daryl Sharpton as guys it would make sense to consider for cheap depth, as all of them have a connection with someone on our coaching staff or front office (Bowles, Rodgers, Collins, Caldwell, Maccagnan, or Hogan, and often more than one).

It's unlikely, but I'd also totally kick an offer Rolando McClain's way since it looks like Dallas is lowballing the hell out of him.

At edge, there's less left out there that's appealing.  Sam Acho and Marcus Benard are guys who could work as depth at SAM or Elephant (respectively) and have ties to Bowles as ex-Cardinals.

We may not do any of these moves until after the draft, though (or at all).

It seems like the kind of move Bowles would make, too.

Rich Cimini stole "Tamper 2" from me, let's see if Mike Caldwell steals this idea from you.
