6:10PM: According to Pierre LeBrun and John Shannon, Canucks defenseman Alex Edler could be in play.

Edler, 27, has scored close to half of his career points on the power play.

He scored:

  • 22 points in 45 games last season
  • 49 in 82 games in 11-12
  • 32 in 51 games in 10-11
  • 42 in 76 games in 09-10
  • 37 in 80 games in 08-09

Mark Spector of Sportsnet tweets “I would ID Alex Edler as No, 1 Canucks player who will struggle with Tortorella as coach. Might be time to move him.”

Tortorella has said in interviews that he wants to see more from all of his players and has mentioned Edler specifically.

Edler has a no-trade clause kick in on July 1 and a six-year extension worth $30 million starting this coming season.

He is 6-3, 215 and a left handed shot. Edler had 77 hits and 81 blocked shots for Vancouver last season.
