The Rangers play their third game of the Traverse City tournament tonight against the Blue Jackets.
Rangers center Oscar Lindberg is tied for the tournament lead in scoring with four goals.
- 3 of his goals have come on the power play
- Lindberg has 10 shots on goal, second on the team behind Danny Kristo
Danny Kristo told the team’s website that Lindberg “is a smart player and knows how to get open. He finds those soft spots where you can get him the puck. We have some good chemistry right now.”
Lindberg told the team’s website, “It feels good to score some goals…it feels good.”
Adam Rotter: We will have to wait until the preseason to get a real look at Lindberg, but it seems like he is making a good impression in Traverse City. Unlike with Derek Stepan in 2010, who had seven points in Traverse City and won a job in training camp, the Rangers are pretty deep at center this year and Lindberg could be ticketed to Hartford. The injuries to Ryan Callahan and Carl Hagelin, along with a cap hit of $760,000, could see Lindberg start the season with the Rangers if his strong play continues, but it’s expected that he will spend the bulk of the season with the Wolf Pack.
