He played on the 2011 Team USA World Championship team with Derek Stepan, Ryan McDonagh and Chris Kreider.
Following that tournament, Chris Peters wrote at the United States of Hockey that Palmieri was inconsistent but showed some flashes of becoming a player, “He’s a young guy, so he’s got time to expand on his skill set and round out his game. Leslie Treff tweets “Nick Palmieri is a good young player who, if properly developed could be very useful to the Rangers. Still needs seasoning in AHL.”
Michael Russo tweeted, “As I wrote last week, just a matter of time before Palmieri was gone after summer holdout and not reporting to Houston after cut.”
