The Rangers signed winger Marek Hrivik earlier in the offseason after a big post season in Hartford with the Whale.
On Hrivik, Jeff Gorton said during a chat on the team’s website, “He was able to get into the mix a little earlier. he found some chemistry and took off from there. He was a nice find for us. He ran with it and earned a contract because of it.”
Gordie Clark said of Hrivik in a video on the Rangers website, “Here’s a guy that scored 38 goals two years ago and 32 goals last year, missing 20 games. So we’ve always kept an eye on him. Our Quebec scout Daniel Dorey had an eye on him and my western scout Ernie Gere was going through. I said, will you take a look at this guy when you’re going through. I had gone up to see him after Daniel talked about and then I said Ernie you keep an eye on him. He liked him and so then we took a shot at him at the end of the season. He’s a well rounded player, he always works. He doesn’t wanna dump a puck in that’s what I love about him. He loves to hold onto it, take a hit, but make a play and like I said he scored 38 and 32 so the goals don’t surprise me at all.”
Hrivik, 20, is 6-2, 185.
