Read: Kyle Jean’s Season Dropped Off

Leslie Treff writes at Hockey’s Future that Jean is a hard-hitting/offensively minded center who ran out of gas as the everyday grind of being a pro player set in.

She says that Jean was logging a lot of minutes during the start of the season and it became too much for him during his rookie year.

In his first pro season, Jean has a total of 9 goals and 14 assists in 73 games.

By month, Jean scored:

  • 4 goals and 5 assists in seven games
  • 1 goal and 3 assists in 11 games
  • 2 assists in 14 games
  • 3 goals in 12 games
  • 1 goal and 2 assists in 11 games
  • 1 assist in 13 games
  • 1 assist in five games

He told the Rangers website, “I started out really well and then I kind of tapered off as the season went along” and added that it was a good learning year for him. He said that his goal is to play like he did out of the gates over a full season.

In a chat with the Rangers website, Jean said that he learned a lot about how to be a pro last year and about the mental preparedness a player needs to have every day.
