This morning at Rangers practice, Jesper Fast skated on a line with Brian Boyle and Taylor Pyatt.
Fast was likely holding the spot for fellow Swede Carl Hagelin who was given the day off for a maintenance day.
Fast, according to Ranger Rants, was practicing with the Whale for the past week or so and was brought into Rangers practice today so the coaches could get a first hand look.
He told Ranger Rants that he was excited to be in NY and that he wants to bring speed, pucks to the net and scoring ability to the Rangers.
Fast told the Rangers website, “it was very fun and exciting to come here. It is a dream come true to play in this organization. “
Fast said that he was glad to be in NY and will take things day by day.
John Tortorella said, via the NY Post, that Fast was a player he wanted to get a look at and meet. He added, “we don’t know where it goes” in regards to what the team will do with Fast or if he will get into the lineup.
Swedish paper Expressen reports that Fast will be called back to Sweden on April 15th to play in the World Championships. They report that this is the agreement that Peter Forsberg and Bill Daly reached, that Fast and Detroit’s Calle Jarnkrok could come to North America for a few weeks but then return to Sweden for the World Championships
