Beukeboom told Blueshirts United that he is very much looking forward to working with one specific player in Hartford, 2010 first round pick Dylan McIlrath.
Beukeboom said, “I think he will be a huge focus of mine. The organization has invested a high draft pick and a lot of time and energy into a young prospect who brings a different skill set to the table. Obviously his skill set is hard to find in a defenseman. I really look forward to working with him.”
Adam Rotter: It’s cool when former players come back to the organization to work, but in this case, the fit makes so much sense. McIlrath is a guy the Rangers are really high on and who better to teach him than Beuk? This doesn’t automatically make McIlrath into an NHLer, but it definitely gives him a mentor and someone who has been in his shoes.
