Read: Boo Nieves Has Hockey Sense

The Rangers took Boo Nieves with their second round pick and while most people look at his speed, Future Considerations says that he also has pretty solid vision on the ice, “He makes decisions quickly and can really handle the puck calmly, even at full speed. He has great vision and can really thread the needle with his passes.”

At Syracuse.com, Nieves former youth coach says that the hockey sense was apparent at a young age, “The one thing that continues to stick out about him is his unbelievable hockey sense. He found guys that were open. You said, ‘Ah, that’s not typically a 9-year-old play.”

Jeff Gorton told the Rangers website that Nieves has the speed and the sense to play, “when you saw him play his speed stuck out. He can make plays, put some weight on and he has some room to grow. He has NHL speed now and hockey sense.”

Boo is heading to Michigan in the fall and Gorton said, “We are willing to be patient” and “we are projecting 3 or 4 years down the road.”

Gordie Clark has said the most important thing he looks for in a prospect is hockey sense.

How about this for a bad trade... the promising 4th round selection Aaron Brooks for the somewhat disappointing 2nd round pick Drew Brees circa 2002/2003?

Well done Bent as usual.;a little analysis, a little humor, and always  interesting.... especially after a win

Holy %#!&. I was just telling my wife about this guy named Bent and how he watches an amazing amount of game film. Now I discover that he charts two teams, not just the Jets....

@djf1 It varies from week to week.  Last week I did the Pats game, which is lame but at least it gives me a look at the Browns for the purposes of the BGA preview in a couple of weeks.

Do you help Sam with his reviews?

@me He's giving an example of where I was looking for a QB trade that would look reasonable at the time but bad in hindsight as per the first question.

That's not bad - and Brees was one I considered.

Oh, OK, that conversation is from yesterday!

Brees would have gotten to New Orleans a little sooner!

How about Browning Nagle after his first game to Atlanta for Brett Favre!
