Tonight, the Connecticut Whale and Norfolk Admirals will meet for game 5 of their Eastern Conference Semi-Final series (ECSF series ‘I’) at 7pm (ET) at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT. Both teams will battle for an all-important 3-2 series lead tonight, after the Whale defeated Norfolk on Monday, 4-1, to even the series at 2-2.
—in game 4 on Monday, the Whale beat the Admirals, 4-1, on goals by Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Scott Tanksi, Casey Wellman, and Kris Newbury. The Whale carried a 2-1 lead out of period 2, and struck for two goals in the third period to distance themselves from Norfolk. Cam Talbot made 19 saves in the win.
—the Whale penalty-killing was a perfect 6-for-6 on Monday, but its power-play went 0-for-4.
—Connecticut’s leading scorers in the post-season are Marek Hrivik (5-3-8), Wellman (4-4-8) and Kelsey Tessier (1-4-5).
—the Whale line-up will likely remain the same, although there is a possibility that defenseman Brendan Bell joins the line-up if he is ready (lower-body). Dylan McIlrath has played in Bell’s absence.
—the Admirals top scorers in the playoffs are Alexandre Picard (4-6-10), Alex Killorn (3-7-10) and Trevor Smith (3-6-9).
—Dustin Tokarski made 20 saves in Norfolk’s loss on Monday, but will likely remain between the pipes for game 5.
