AHL: Springfield forward Adam Mair suspended four games for hit on Whale’s Mats Zuccarello

The American Hockey League has announced today that Springfield Falcons forward Adam Mair is suspended for four games after his hit on Connecticut Whale forward Mats Zuccarello on Saturday.

As is apparent through the video linked above, Mair’s hit on Zuccarello was a late hit and a high hit to the head. The collision even forced Zuccarello to miss the second game of the Whale and Falcons home-and-home set on Sunday, which was likely taken into consideration by the leagues executives.

Mair has three assists and 18 penalty-minutes in eight games with Springfield, while Zuccarello has three goals and an assist in just two games with Connecticut.

Hugh Jessiman and Ryan Hollweg

Former Hartford Wolf Pack forwards Hugh Jessiman and Ryan Hollweg were also dealt suspensions by the league today. Jessiman was given four games for a hit from behind, and Hollweg one game for a hit to the head.
