Note: Marty Biron Is A Really Big Part Of This Team

This season, Marty Biron has a record of 10-2-1 with 2 shutouts and a GAA of 2.03 and save percentage of .919.

Following the Rangers win over the Maple Leafs recently, John Tortorella talked about Biron on Hockey Night Live:

“I can’t even call him a back up. It’s not about getting Hank rest, it’s about a goalie getting a win for you. He is a perfect fit for where we are as a team. He is a good teammate and understands his role on the team. He has been a very big piece to us in the first half.”

Tortorella said before the game against Tampa, “He understands his role and that is very important. We talked to him a couple of years ago before we signed him and had a conversation and that was very important because Hank is our number one guy. He understood that and the thing that is really good is that he brings a personality into the locker room and it’s a different personality and I think that is very important with our club. He is a really good teammate and he has really played well since he has been here. “

I say it every time Marty is mentioned, they need to sign him to an extension. I worry that with some team will overpay him in the offseason to be a starter and the Rangers will lose him and have to find another back up to try and recreate not only what he does on the ice but also in the locker room. From an organizational standpoint, Henrik Lundqvist can’t play more than 60-62 games a season if he wants to be fresh for the playoffs each season, so the Rangers know that they need a capable backup.

that beating must have gone up Snyders rear end seeing how he hates the Giants

No question the Giants have begun to gel, but they've played some weak teams.

I want to see them beat a good team or two, then we'll have a better idea of how good they really are.

John - nice job manning up (pun intentional) on Eli.

I'm glad to see Herzlich doing well as a strong side linebacker. He is not a MLB. He gets exposed there.

Of course it works for him, it's a full game of 2-minute offense. Eli has always worked best when he's worked quickly.

Actually, John, you weren't completely wrong. This isn't the same offense. The Giants went away from the West Coast offense. We're not seeing the quick 2-3 step drops with the emphasis on footwork and moving the pocket. What they're doing now is what they should have done all along (or maybe what they did during preseason was just a red herring). This is the Manning Family no-huddle shotgun that Peyton used for years in Indy and Denver.

Is it too early for Giant fans to panic? No, the panic stage started – and ended – a while ago. Any fan that thinks this season is going to have a happy ending needs serious therapy. No offense, leaky special teams, injuries and a suddenly very generous defense all point to the Giants having an historically bad year.

They are in freefall again. The Giants, who began last season by losing their first six games, are in danger of matching (or besting) that feat again this year.

John Ended this article with "Can you say 4-12?"

This is the second time in the last 5 years I have had to call John out on jumping ship in the first few weeks of a season.  Last time they ended up winning the superbowl.  Lets hope that John giving up on the Giants season in week 2 again brings Big Blue good luck the rest of the way for all the real Giants fans who had faith in TC, JR & Eli.

@metsgiants There are a LOT of short, quick decision, high percentage passes, which is the hallmark of the West Coast offense.

@Dan Manning Just calling it like it is...still along way to go with lots of work to do, but I fall into the trap that most people do. The NFL is loaded with average and bad teams and the Giants are in the middle somewhere. So 4-12 was a frustrating prediction, but it's a lowball one

@Dan Manning

I can somewhat understand the reactionary and  negative public perception of Eli  from casual football fans and fans of other teams, but it always amazes me how quick some Giants fans turn on the same guy who has brought them 2 Super Bowls and is hands-down the greatest QB in franchise history (and it's not even close).  Do we want to go back to the days of Dave Brown and Kent Graham? As long as he's not being protected by a historically bad OLine like he was last season, than Eli will be fine. I don't think Eli will every truly be appreciated until he is gone...

Who in your opinion is not average or bad? Are you an eagles guy? A packers or lions guy? You cant say the nfl is full if bad and average teams. Has it changed from 10 years ago? Man what a lousy excuse for a football fan. No knowledge of football

@Jeremy Menhennett I just can't believe that John is the head writer of a NY Giants football blog and he jumps ship on the team after an 0-2 start when we have our first new OC in recent memory lol.  Its amazing.  That is something I would expect from a fan of the other team that plays in Giants Stadium.  John truly owes the fans of the Giants who read this blog to stay in the loop an apology for spreading his negativity after 2 tough losses to start the season.  Complaining about the team, management, roster and coaching staff after week two in a public forum and predicting a 4-12 season is not something I want from the writer covering the Giants.
